Objectives (course unit)
Explore the underlying theories and methodologies driving the modern world of web and app design. This course, tailored for individuals keen on understanding the 'why' behind the 'how', provides a comprehensive insight into the foundational theories that influence design decisions and the methods that bring them to life.
Students are equipped with an understanding of the key theories and principles that underpin effective web and app design.
Develop a deeper understanding of the strategic thought processes behind modern design methodologies.
Students critically analyze and evaluate design choices based on theoretical knowledge.

Historical Context and Evolution: tracing how the field has evolved and how the technological advancements impact design decisions.
Design Principles and Theories: principles of colour theory, typography, layout and user-centric design.
Methodological Approaches: reviewing various design methodologies and analyzing the pros and cons of different design workflows and their applications.
Critique and Analysis: critically assessing and analyzing design choices and evaluating real-world design solutions against theoretical principles.

The student:
Can identify and outline fundamental concepts related to web and app design theories.
Has a basic grasp of foundational design principles and their significance in the design process.
