Objectives (course unit)

The immersive Music Production course introduces multichannel audio formats such as 5.1 surround sound and advances to object-based immersive sound systems such as Dolby Atmos.

The student is able to:
Identify multichannel and object-based formats such as 5.1 Surround Sound and Dolby Atmos.
Mix in different perspectives in surround sound, such as the best seats in the house and inside the band.
Use headphones and a speaker set up to mix in Dolby Atmos.
Develop both theoretical and practical skills when working with multichannel or object-based audio.

Content (course unit)

Multichannel audio formats such as 5.1 surround sound and object-based immersive sound systems such as Dolby Atmos.

Mixes with different perspectives from live or studio recordings are presented. Latest immersive audio protocols such as Dolby Atmos, are used to make immersive music production within DAW.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

The student shows a basic understanding of multichannel and object-based audio. The student knows how to interact in discussions related to the field on a basic level and how to give and receive feedback. The student participates in class, assigned work and reporting.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

The student shows a good understanding of multichannel and object-based audio. The student demonstrates a good ability to interact in discussions related to the field and is good at giving and receiving feedback. The student works actively in class and assignments and delivers well-structured reports.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

Student shows an exceptional understanding of multichannel and object-based audio. The student demonstrates an excellent ability to interact in discussions related to the field and is excellent at giving and receiving feedback. The student works actively in class and shows a strong commitment to assignments and reports.
