Objectives (course unit)

Students
-know the principles of mammography
-know the structure and function of mammography equipment and auxiliary equipment and quality assurance
-know the PGMI meter and can assess mammographic image quality according to it
-discern normal and pathological conditions of breasts
-know the legislation concerning safe medical use of ionizing radiation in mammography and procedures
-can position the most common mammography projections with a training patient in learning situations
-can act aseptically, ergonomically and ethically

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

-can name differences, advantages and challenges between different imaging techniques of the breasts
-can describe the structure and function of mammography equipment and quality assurance
-can name the most common mammography projections and criteria of good radiographic images according to the PGMI meter
-can discern normal and pathological conditions of breasts from x-ray pictures
-can describe the legislation concerning safe medical use of ionizing radiation
-can position the most common mammography projections in learning situations mainly independently
-can act aseptically and ergonomically in learning situations

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

-can explain differences, advantages and challenges between different imaging techniques of the breasts from the point of view of different-aged patients
-can explain the structure and function of mammography equipment and quality assurance
-can explain the most common mammography projections and criteria of good radiographic images according to the PGMI meter
-can discern normal and pathological conditions of breasts from x-ray pictures
-can explain the legislation concerning safe medical use of ionizing radiation
-can position the most common mammography projections in learning situations mainly independently
-can act aseptically and ergonomically in learning situations

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

-can versatilely explain differences, advantages and challenges between different imaging techniques of the breasts from the point of view of different-aged patients
-can reasonably explain the structure and function of mammography equipment and quality assurance
-know versatilely the most common mammography projections and criteria of good radiographic images according to the PGMI meter
-can discern normal and pathological conditions of breasts from x-ray pictures
-know the legislation concerning safe medical use of ionizing radiation so that he/she can reasonably explain their contents to patients, their family members and other staff if necessary
-can position the most common mammography projections in learning situations mainly independently
-can act aseptically and ergonomically in learning situations

Luennot, itsenäiset tehtävät ja ryhmätehtävät, laboraatiot mammografialaitteella oppilaitoksen röntgenluokassa.

Fyysikon ja radiologin luennoilla sekä laboraatioissa 100 % läsnäolovelvoite.
