Objectives (course unit)
The student
- has the essential nursing skills needed for individual nursing care of long-term medical-surgical patients
- is able to nurse safely and by correct ethical standards
- is able to work showing expertise in caring for medical-surgical patients
- uses quality assessment tools and auditing tools to develop his/her own work and operations of the working community

Prerequisites (course unit)
First year and middle phase studies completed, at least 135 credits, including the basic level studies in the field of the advanced professional studies. Participation in Nursing of Chronic Diseases 4 credits.

There will be an entrance test before participating the Orientation to Clinical Training workshops and simulations.

Assessment methods and criteria
Mandatory participation in the Orientation to Clinical Training, Nursing of Chronic Diseases course.
To pass the course the student will participate in the workshops, simulations, 100% active participation. All preparatory study material is student's responsibility to study, and s/he will take an entrance test before the practical meetings.

Teaching methods
Due to COVID19 pandemic, students should be prepared to possible changes in the timetable and/or study plan.
Working in small groups, orientation to clinical training: workshops, simulation, independent study/work in the field of nursing care of patients with chronic diseases and illnesses
Learning materials
Material provided by teachers in the theory course (7Q00DH33-3001 Nursing of Chronic Diseases) and in Moodle platforms.
Independent studying necessary before the practical meetings.
Study material for the practical meetings (Orientation to clinical training) given beforehand, there will be an entrance test before participation.
Student workload
2 ECTS is 54 hours student's work. Independent study, pre-material, orientation practices, workshop, simulation practices.

Fail: student is not participating in the meetings, is not active during the meetings, has failed to study given material beforehand. Does not show interest and/or motivation to the course contents.

Pass: 100% active participation in the scheduled workshops and simulations. Preparatory study and assignments done as instructed. Passing the entrance test before the practices.
