Objectives (course unit)

The student
- is able to vaccinate safely;
- is able to perform personalised health check-ups and screenings;
- is able to use empowering methods in lifestyle guidance;
- is able to guide clients in self-care and choices of lifestyle with an empowering approach.

Content (course unit)

- intradermal injection
- personalised health check-ups and screenings
- acting as a nurse in outpatient health care

Prerequisites (course unit)

30 ects of initial stage studies must be completed before entering the middle stage studies.
Participation in courses on Pharmacotherapy and Medical Calculations and Nursing in Outpatient Health Care.

Assessment methods and criteria

100% attendance in each skill stations.
Student will demonstrate id-injection succesfully.
Active participation with completed preparatory assignments.

Skills stations, Independent study, Group work, Simulation, Intervention, Coaching and Mentoring skill training

Learning materials

Tabula materials.
Materials and assignments need to be prepared before attending the skill stations.

Student workload

Total of 27 hours including independent studies, 10 hours contact.

Content scheduling

Skills stations in small groups as follows:
Part 1: 4h personalised health check-ups and screenings
Part 2: 2h intradermal injection and vaccination
Part 3: 4h simulation skills: as a nurse in outpatient health care, guiding and intervention skills

Part 1 at Taitokeskus, Part 2-3 at TAMK.
Mandatory Orientation 15.08.2019 08.30 - 11.45. Orientation will be hold at the same time with the course: 7Q00DH16-3001 Nursing in Outpatient Health Care. Students need to attend Nursing in Outpatient Health Care -course at the same time or earlier.

Assessment criteria - pass/fail (Not in use, Look at the Assessment criteria above)

Approved:
100% attendance in skills stations and active participation with completed preparatory assignments. Id-injection demonstration.
Failed:
The criteria for approved is not met.
