Objectives (course unit)

Student is able to
-know factors that have influence on the origin of the most common diseases
-know the most common diseases and their symptoms and the basic principles of preventing and treating these diseases
-know laboratory diagnostics of the most common diseases and the meaning of laboratory results in treating the patient
-know patient examinations, such as prick tests and helicobacter urea tests
-work in diverse multidisciplinary projects as experts of their own field to promote client wellbeing
-plan, realise and assess services which are produced in multiprofessional projects
-choose and realise evidence-based working practices in different operating environments
-evaluate their own work and improve their professional expertise
-develop services in a client-oriented manner
-support nursing students / staff and patients/clients in using point of care tests and other laboratory services

Content (course unit)

Factors affecting the origin of diseases and changes caused by diseases in human body
Most common diseases in the different fields of medicine and their laboratory diagnostics (allergies, cancers, infections, autoimmune and pulmonary diseases, gastroenterology, cardiology, nephrology, endocrinology, and neurology)
Planning, implementation and assessment of projects
Client-oriented approach, multiprofessional cooperation, and professional expertise. Evidence-based working

Prerequisites (course unit)

The student must have passed 13SBIO-1024 and 13SBIO-1006 before the course

Opiskelijat tekevät syksyn aikana projektityöskentelyn kautta tarvittavat projektitunnit. Tuntien määrän jakautuminen syksylle perustuu aiemmin tehtyjen tuntien määrään. Erillinen Teams-pohja, johon opiskelijat raportoivat tehdyt tunnit, tuntiseuranta.

InnoEvent marraskuussa, kiinteä ajankohta, muutoin aikataulutus kunkin projektin mukisesti.
