Human Anatomy and Physiology (5cr)

Objectives (course unit)

This course provides essential knowledge of the structure and function of the human body, including the structure and function of the bones and joints, required by the radiographer.

After completing the course, the student:
• can use the main scientific names and terms of human anatomy and physiology
• knows the main features of the structure of organs and organ systems
• is aware of how the human body functions and is able to apply that knowledge in radiography and radiotherapy
• knows the anatomy of the skeleton and joints and is able to explain their structure and function
• can name the human bones and joints from x-ray images
• knows the structure and function of the nervous system

Content (course unit)

• the main scientific names and terms of human anatomy and physiology
• the heart, the circulatory system, the digestive system, the respiratory system and the internal organs
• the structure and function of the human musculoskeletal system (bones, joints)
• the structure and function of the central and peripheral nervous system
• palpation practice

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

• can describe the functional parts of the human body and meanings of them
• can name some anatomical targets of the human musculoskeletal system and can use the main terms of physiology
• can partly describe the structure and function of the central and peripheral nervous system

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

• can describe the structure of organs and organ systems
• can describe how the human body functions
• can name anatomical targets of the human musculoskeletal system and can use the main terms of physiology
• can describe the structure and function of the central and peripheral nervous system

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

• can describe the structure of organs and organ systems versatilely
• can versatilely describe how the human body functions
• can name the anatomical targets of the human musculoskeletal system (including the small structures) and can use the main terms of physiology
• can describe the structure and function of the central and peripheral
nervous system versatilely

Exam schedules

Anatomian ja fysiologian tentti tehdään Examissa myöhemmin ilmoitettavana ajankohtana.
Opiskelijalla on kaksi uusintamahdollisuutta.

Luuston anatomia: Luuston anatomian välitestit Moodle-oppimisympäristössä lukujärjestyksen mukaisesti. Luuston anatomian näyttö x.x.2025. Ajanvaraus Moodlen kautta.
Moodle-tenttejä on mahdollista uusia kaksi kertaa samoin kuin luuston anatomian näyttökoetta.

Assessment methods and criteria

Anatomian ja fysiologian arviointi tapahtuu kirjallisen kuulustelun perusteella (EXAM). Arviointi 0-5. Arvosana 1 edellyttää 50 % maksimipisteistä.

Luuston anatomian arviointimaksimi on 100 pistettä. Läpipääsyraja on 50 pistettä. Yksittäisen Moodle-tentin ja myös luustonäytön arviointimaksimi 20 pistettä. Yksittäisestä Moodle-tentistä ja luuston näyttökokeesta minimi hyväksyttävä pistemäärä on 5 pistettä.

Further information

Ensimmäisellä tunnilla käydään läpi orientaatioasiat, joten läsnäolo orientaatiossa on erittäin
suositeltavaa. Mikäli joudut olemaan poissa orientaatiosta, selvitä itse kurssin asiat samalla toteutuksella olevalta kurssitoverilta.
Anatomian ja fysiologian osuus sisältää lähipetusta ja opiskelijan itsenäistä työtä. Lähiopetus on suunniteltu siten, että tunneilla käydään läpi opiskelijan ennalta opiskelema aihealue. Oppimisen edellytyksenä on se, että opiskelija perehtyy tunnin aiheeseen etukäteen mm. opiskelemalla aihepiiriä kirjasta ja tekemällä mahdollisia tehtäviä. Lähiopetuksessa paneudutaan tärkeimpiin ja vaikeimpiin asioihin pohtien, kysellen ja keskustellen.
Luuston anatomian osalta opetus toteutetaan osittain lähiopetuksena. Palpaatiotunneille on läsnäolovelvollisuus.
