Objectives (course unit)
The student is able to describe the heat demand of buildings as a whole and describe the operation of different heat production and distribution systems. The student is able to apply the regulations and instructions concerning district heating of buildings. The student is able to describe the operating principle of a water heating system. The student is able to dimension the conventional components of a water-based heating system, as well as to identify various control and regulation methods of heating systems and related components.
Content (course unit)
Calculations for the needs of energy and energy balance. Creating energy performance certificates for a building permit. The functions of a central water-heating network. Regulations and guidelines as basis for planning, realising and using heating systems, the structure and dimensioning of heating networks, components of heat production and distribution, and their dimensioning and selection.
Prerequisites (course unit)
Heat Transfer and Fluid Dynamics
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)
The student recognizes the conventional components of a heating system and is able to describe the operation of a water heating system. The student recognizes the heat demand of the building as a whole
Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)
In addition to the above, the student is able to describe the function of the water heating system and its significance for the whole. The student is able to make informed and well-informed choices for water heating.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)
The student is able to describe parts of the building's different heating systems and their complexity well and to compare them reasonably and comprehensively.
