Objectives (course unit)

Student:
- Learn to work in multidisciplinary technology development projects in various design measurement and development tasks.
- Manages the various stages of the development project, as well as planning, steering and monitoring.
- Can report on the progress of the project at its various stages.
- Is able to receive and present development suggestions and feedback on project management tasks.
- Can evaluate technology project's success

Content (course unit)

In the Mechanical Engineering, technology academies are being developed as technology platforms for the application of key technologies and development of business co-operation, as well as networks. Currently the following academies are underway:
- Robot Academy: Robotic and light robot applications
- Drone Academy: Development of Drones and Drone applications
- Productization Academy: Digital product development and manufacturing, PDM / PLM, PMI Elements, Digital Twin, ...
- Virtual Academy: VR / AR technologies, IoT applications, automation applications, ...
The project may also be another multidisciplinary development project (RDI or other project project, SME development project, etc.)

Prerequisites (course unit)

Prerequisites: 5K00DJ97 Project Management trump card approved execution or equivalent project management skills.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

The student applies the main principles, basic concepts and tools of project activity. The student is only somewhat motivated, takes responsibility for his / her own performance and gives and receives feedback. Understanding of the topic and is able to apply knowledge.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

The student applies well the most important principles, basic concepts and tools of project activity, and is able to justify their learning. The student is clearly motivated, take responsibility for his/hers own performance and is able to constructively give and receive feedback.The student has a good understanding of the topic and is able to apply knowledge well.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

The student understands broadly the main principles, concepts and tools of project activity. The student is able not only to justify and apply his/her learning, but also to critically evaluate his/her own solutions. The student is highly motivated, committed to taking responsibility for his/her own performance and is able to systematically use feedback as a tool for professional growth. The student has d Deep understanding of the topic and is able to apply knowledge excellently. The student can support and guide other fellow students (specialists).

Further information

The Technology Academy, Part 1 course replaces the possible compulsory course of OPS 5N00CQ10 Projektityö / Project Work 5 cr. Only one of these courses can be included in the professional subjects in a student’s HOPS.

The project started with the Technology Academy, Part 1 course continues in many cases with the Technology Academy, Part 2 - Course. This replaces the possible compulsory course 5K00DL59 Work Projects in Mechanical Engineering in OPS. Only one of these courses can be included in the professional subjects in a student’s HOPS.
