Organic Chemistry (5 cr)

Objectives (course unit)

The aim of the course is to learn the basics of organic chemistry, including the structure, reactions and preparation methods of organic compounds.
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to name organic compounds, understand the structure and properties of different carbon compounds, and understand the most common reactions, reaction mechanisms and preparation methods related to organic chemistry.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

The student will pass the exams and return the set assignments, possibly only after prompting. Participates in the preparation and presentation of group assignments. The student performs the assigned tasks under supervision/assistance.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

Exam results of good standard, completes independent tasks and returns on time. Passes the preliminary tasks. Participates in class discussions on topics.
Participates in group assignments and is well prepared for presentation. The student performs the given tasks almost independently.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

Examination results at an excellent level, actively participates in class, returns all assignments on time, answers mostly correct.
Demonstrates commendable activity in group work and presentations. The student performs the assigned tasks independently.

Assessment methods and criteria

osallistuminen välikokeisiin ja niiden hyväksytty suorittaminen. Sovittujen tehtävien palautus ajallaan. Osallistuminen ryhmätyöskentelyyn.
Kokeiden arvosana määräytyy seuraavasti:
50-59% max. pisteistä --> 1
60-69% max. pisteistä --> 2
70-79% max. pisteistä --> 3
80-89% max. pisteistä --> 4
> 90% max pisteistä --> 5
Tenttien tulokset, ennakkotehtävien ja sovittujen palautettujen tehtävien suoritus (porkkanatehtävät) & palautus aikataulun mukaisesti, ryhmätehtävien esitykset.

Välikokeet ja ryhmätyö tulee tulee olla suoritettu hyväksytysti. Välikokeiden pisteet lasketaan yhteen. Ryhmätyöstä voi saada pisteitä puolen arvosanan verran. Tehdyistä harjoitustehtävistä (porkkanatehtävät) voi saada pisteitä puolikkaan arvosanan verran. Ryhmätyön ja harjoitustehtävien pisteet huomioidaan vain hyväksyttyjen välikokeiden pisteiden lisäksi.

Uusinta ja korotus: voit uusia vain yhden välikokeen (hylätyn) kerran. Hyväksyttyä välikoetta ei voi korottaa. Kurssiarvosanan voi korottaa kerran määrättyinä uusinta- ja korotustenttipäivinä, tällöin tentitään koko kurssi.Korotustentissä ei huomioida porkkanatehtäviä eikä ryhmätyön pisteiteitä.
