Objectives (course unit)

After completing the course, the student will be able to:
• work in a group and promote collegiality
• plan and organise one's own work
• identify periodontological and cariological instruments, equipment and dental materials
• sharpen periodontological instruments
• document oral health status charting with index
• use structured recording in documenting care process
• assess the need for treatment and determine the urgency of treatment
• use instruments for basic periodontal treatment and carry out preventive treatment
• carry out preventive caries treatment
• carry out tooth filling to completion using different filling materials
• know the working steps of caries restorative treatment procedures
• take prosthetic impressions
• identify the most common prosthetic instruments, equipment and materials
• work ergonomically, economically and ecologically

Content (course unit)

Periodontological and cariological instruments, appliances and dental materials
Sharpening of instruments
Oral health examination and related status indications and indices
Assessment of treatment needs and urgency of treatment
Instrumentation for basic periodontological treatment and preventive treatment
Preventive cariological treatments
Cariological restorative treatment processes (filling, root canal treatment and tooth extraction)
Prosthodontic treatment steps, instruments, equipment and materials

Assessment criteria, pass/fail (course unit)

Accepted:
The student demonstrates mastery of the training period's learning objectives and completes the tasks assigned for the training period.

Failed:
The student does not meet the criteria for acceptance.
