Objectives (course unit)
The student is able to explain the basic concepts of flow technology and flow phenomena. The student is familiar with the flow-related equipment and their operating characteristics. The student is able to perform the process technical dimensioning of the pump and pipes.
The student is able to apply his / her knowledge in later subject studies and also to utilize his / her expertise in future work tasks
Content (course unit)
Fluid properties and flow technology phenomena. Basic equations for flow technology; material balance, energy balance and sample test principles. Pipe Flow and Pressure Loss in Piping. Process engineering dimensioning of the pump. The design and operating characteristics of pumps, fans and compressors, as well as pipes and pipe fittings.
