Objectives (course unit)
The main goal of the course is to help the students strengthen their study skills and study ability. After completing the course, the students:
- are aware of the learning and well-being support services offered at TAMK Parvi and know how to utilise them in order to support their studies.
- recognise their own learning and studying methods and know how to develop their study skills
- can identify different ways to increase and maintain study ability and well-being
- know how to promote their own well-being
- are able to identify communal working methods as way of supporting well-being.
Content (course unit)
During the study period, the students participate in at least 6 activities of their choice at TAMK Parvi reflecting on what they have experienced and learned in a learning diary. The Parvi calendar for activities and events may be found in the Student’s Handbook on the designated TAMK Parvi page.
Assessment criteria, pass/fail (course unit)
The course will be graded as a pass when the students:
- know how to resort to the services of TAMK Parvi to support their own studies
- have found suitable study methods for themselves and improved their study skills
- have attempted to enhance their own study ability and well-being
- have participated in individual and/or communal activities supporting well-being.
Location and time
The course is organised on an ongoing basis during 15.8.2024–15.5.2025.
In case a student has not completed the course during the allocated time period, they may follow the instructions provided by the teacher to complete the course.
Exam schedules
No exam. If the student is not able to complete the course, attend the TAMK Parvi activities or write the reading diary during the allocated time period, further instructions may be provided by the teacher to complete the course.
Assessment methods and criteria
The student can complete the course at independent pace during the study period by taking part in the selected activities at TAMK Parvi or TAMK Parvi's partner organisations' activities according to the instructions found in Moodle. In addition, the student hands in their learning diary at the end of the course before the course closes. The teacher assesses the course as a pass/fail.

Teaching methods
Participating in at least 6 Parvi or TAMK Parvi's partner organisations' activities. Self-reflection, writing a learning diary entry after each session. Student workload
Participating in 6 Parvi activities (6 x approximately 1,5h = 9h). Writing a learning diary after each session = 18 h. Total 1 cr = 27 h.
Content scheduling
The student studies independently during the allocated time period of the course (15.8.2024-15.5.2025). Student takes part in 6 TAMK Parvi or TAMK Parvi's partner organisations' activities, reflects upon his or her experiences in a learning diary and hands it in at the end of the course.
Completion alternatives
Following the instructions found in Moodle, the student may choose which Parvi activities to take part in and in which format to return the learning diary.

You may progress in the course according to your own goals and needs. Familiarise yourself with TAMK Parvi activities well in advance and plan in which activities you will participate. If you cannot complete the course according to the schedule, contact the teacher. We may find alternative methods to support your goals and support you in completing the course.
Assessment criteria - pass/fail (Not in use, Look at the Assessment criteria above)
The course is completed and assessed as a pass when the student has participated in the activities of the student's choice according to the requirements and instructions of the course, reflected upon what he or she has learned in their learning diary, and returned the diary by the appropriate date.
If the student has not participated in minimum of 6 activities and/or returned the learning diary according to the instructions and has not followed further instructions as agreed, the course will be assessed as fail.
