Objectives (course unit)

Students
- understand the role of the physiotherapist as a member of a multiprofessional team
- work actively in a multiprofessional working community
- are able to critically assess their own activities and effectiveness of physiotherapy
- are able to implement evidence based physiotherapy for neurological patients
- know how to guide a heart rehabilitation patient by taking into account the patient’s personal resources
- are able to implement evidence based respiratory physiotherapy
- know how to implement pre- and postoperative physiotherapy in an evidence based manner
- know different interactional approaches and know how to guide the patient to find solutions and find their own resources by themselves
- know different kinds of motivating approaches and how to implement them
- take responsibility of their own activities and their consequences
- always work according to professional ethical principles

Prerequisites (course unit)

In order to attend the module, the student has to have passed all the practical examinations of the modules physiotherapy for adults 1 and 2 as well as the examination of nerve anathomy.

Assessment criteria, pass/fail (course unit)

Evaluation criteria, pass/fail:
A passed mark is the result of the student:
- being able to figure out the client's baseline for frequent sessions
- being able to recognise signs of serious pathologies (red flags)
- being able to recognise yellow flags regarding psycho-social situations and take them into account when performing physiotherapy
- completing given assignments first under guidance, and later independently
- paying attention to the client as an individual
- preparing carefully for each physiotherapy session
- being able to give and receive feedback
- being able to work in collaboration with other employees of the clinical placement unit, and reports details about their client to the others
- recognises and evaluates the effectiveness of their interaction skills
- taking responsibility for their own actions
- showing professional behaviour during physiotherapy sessions

A failed mark is the result of the student:
- working with inadequate knowledge
- not preparing themself for physiotherapy sessions
- withdrawing from some physiotherapy sessions
- working inadequately in collaborative situations
- behaving inappropriately (tardiness, inappropriate language)
- not properly evaluating their competence
- endangering patient safety
- forgetting the ethical principles of physiotherapy
- not achieving learning goals due to absences
