Objectives (course unit)
The aim of the study course is to develop knowledge of the basics of nursing, patient safety, aseptics, ergonomics and the most common helping methods from the point of view of the work of a radiographer.
After completing the course, the student:
• knows the basics of patient care and their meaning in caring for the
patient
• knows how to perform patient care in multi-cultural examination and
treatment situations
• knows the basics of aseptic working
• knows the helping methods which are used in the care of an adult
patient
• knows how to work ergonomically in patient care and are able to apply
that knowledge
• knows basics of structured recording
• can evaluate and develop their skills
• knows how to use basic helping methods in patient care in laboratory
situations
Content (course unit)
• environment of patient care
• assisting methods of patient care and patient's holistic care (activity,
tissue integrity, breathing, circulation, nutrition and secreting)
• multi-cultural examination and treatment environment
• pain and pain relief
• patient care of a trauma patient, surgical patient, transient ischaemic attack patient, diabetes patient, cancer patient and patient who has cardiovascular diseases
• work ergonomics
• structured recording
• practice of the helping methods of patient care at the school
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)
• can define the process of patient care and the basic concepts of patient care
• can define multiculturalism in examination and treatment situations
• can name the basic needs of the human being
• can name helping methods used in patient care
• can describe the principles of aseptic working in patient care
• can describe the principles of adult patient care
• can operate in a group and participates in the basic training actively
• is motivated and takes responsibility for his/her own development
Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)
• can explain the process of patient care and the basic concepts of patient care
• can explain multiculturalism in examination and treatment situations
• can describe the basic needs of the human being and how they can be answered by the helping methods used in patient care
• can explain how aseptics are carried out in patient care
• can explain how an adult patient can be taken care of according to the principles of patient care
• can operate in a group and participates in the basic training actively
• is motivated and takes responsibility for his/her own development
Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)
• can reasonably explain the process of patient care and the basic concepts of patient care and can see their connection to the radiographer's profession
• can validate different course of actions in multicultural examination and treatment situations
• can reasonably explain the basic needs of the human being and how they can be answered by the helping methods used in patient care
• can reasonably explain how aseptics are carried out in patient care
• can widely explain how an adult patient can be taken care of according to the principles of patient care
• masters the central matters logically without mistakes showing competence of the wholeness and ability to combine matters
• can operate in a group and participates in the basic training actively
• is motivated and takes responsibility for his/her own development
Assessment criteria, pass/fail (course unit)
Fail:
-the course is failed if the student causes a patient drawback, damage or mortal danger on the basis of his/her knowledge or skills.
