Objectives (course unit)

This course introduces students to digital tools and the communication and writing skills required in both academic and professional contexts. Additionally, it covers the fundamental principles of data protection.

Upon completing this course, students will:
• Be familiar with key text genres relevant to academic study and the workplace, and be able to apply them
• Know how to use information and library services for scholarly research (particularly article databases)
• Effectively utilize common digital tools used in professional settings
• Demonstrate purposeful and goal-oriented communication in workplace contexts
• Critically evaluate information and describe the basic principles of data security and privacy

Exam schedules

Kirjoitusviestintä: Arviointi perustuu kirjallisiin tehtäviin.

Informaatioteknologia: Lähtötasotesti suoritetaan itsenäisesti moodle alustalla 25.8 klo 13-16. Ei uusintamahdollisuutta. Jos läpäiset testin sinun ei tarvitse osallistua työpajoihin.
Jos testiä ei läpäise, toteutetaan lisäopetus tietojenkäsittelyn työpajoissa myöhemmin ilmoitettuna ajankohtana.

Assessment methods and criteria

Kirjoitusviestintä: pienoistutkielma arvioidaan asteikolla 1–5, muut opintojakson tehtävät hyväksytty/hylätty

Informaatioteknologian osuuden testi ja tehtävät arvioidaan hyväksytty/hylätty. Hyväksytty arviointi tarkoittaa arvosanan 3 suoritusta, mikäli suoritus jää tason alle, tulee suorituksia täydentää

Student workload

Kirjoitusviestintä: Opiskelijan työmäärä 3 x 27 h, aktiivinen osallistuminen kontaktitunneille sekä tehtävien tekeminen tuntien ulkopuolella itsenäisesti ja parin kanssa.

Informaatioteknologia: Opiskelijan työmäärä 2 x 27 h, lähtötasotestin tekeminen , mahdollinen työpajoihin osallistuminen sekä itsenäiset tehtävät.

Informaatioteknologia:
Lähtötasotesti ja testin perusteella työpajat niille , jotka eivät testiä läpäise ( word, excel, powerpoint)

Completion alternatives

Kirjoitusviestintä: Vaihtoehtoista suoritustapaa ei ole (hyväksiluku mahdollista aiemmin suoritettujen, vastaavien korkeakouluopintojen perusteella).

Informaatioteknologia: Aikaisemmin suoritetut, osuuden tavoitteita vastaavat korkeakouluopinnot voidaan hyväksyä ahotoinnilla. Nämä katsotaan opiskelijakohtaisesti. Ota yhteys osuuden opettajaan: sanna.keskikuru@tuni.fi
