Objectives (course unit)
After completing the course, the student
• know the most important properties and manufacturing methods of the materials used in vehicles
• know the principles of material selection
• observe the vehicle and tire recycling regulations
• know the mechanisms of corrosion and the principles of corrosion prevention
• works fluently in a group and in the material laboratory
Content (course unit)
The aim of the course is to develop basic knowledge about the properties, manufacturing and processing of the most important materials used in vehicles.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)
The student recognizes the most common materials and manufacturing techniques used in vehicles. The student names different groups of materials and their basic properties. The student recognizes the disadvantages of corrosion and the regulations for vehicle recycling. The student participates in doing work and reporting in a group. The student participates in laboratory exercises.
Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)
The student structures the properties of the materials of different vehicles in relation to each other. The student chooses the most suitable from different material groups and manufacturing techniques and justifies his choice. The student structures different corrosion mechanisms. The student explains the principles of vehicle recycling and the regulations behind it. The student works actively as a member of the group and can report his work well. The student works responsibly in the materials laboratory, learning the basic practices of the field.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)
The student has a broad understanding of the properties and manufacturing techniques of the materials used in vehicles. The student is able to analyze the requirements for different vehicle structures, chooses a material suitable for the vehicle structure and justifies his choice. The student understands corrosion mechanisms and corrosion prevention. The student understands vehicle recycling and its importance in the industry. The student is highly motivated, takes committed responsibility for his own and the group's performance and reporting.
