- test most sensors in a vehicle
- search for faults
- use multibrand diagnostic tool
- analyze vehicle exhaust emissions
- measure and analyze vehicle can-bus

Content (course unit)

Student make laboratory works mainly related to the electrical and digital systems.

Laboratory works are done in teams including report and assessment.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

Student is able to recognise and specify different kind of measurement methods when analysing vehicle systems. Student is working in a group and knows his interaction skills. Student also recognises basic working methods.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

Student is able to compare different measurement methods. Student can also choose best method for measurement and can explain why he/she has chosen that method. Student is able to work responsibly in a group and is ready to improve interaction skills.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

Student understands vehicle systems widely. Student is able to choose best method for measurement and can create new measurement methods. Student is able to work in a group responsibly, flexibly and constructively. Student is able to improve both his/her own and group interaction skills.

Assessment criteria, pass/fail (course unit)

Student is not able to make reports acceptably.

Location and time

Implementation is in autumn season. Measurements will be done in automotive laboratory.

Assessment methods and criteria

Laboratory work is done in teams including the report and result assessment. Students will make a report from every laboratory work. Every report will be returned to teacher not later than two weeks after the work is done. If report is late over two weeks it will be failed.

Assessment scale

0-5

Teaching methods

Making measurements in laboratory, making report.

Learning materials

Bosch: Automotive Handbook. Juhala, M: Moottorialan sähköoppi.

Student workload

Time resource:
- 6 huors lectures
- 50 hours measurements
- 77 hours examine and making reports.
In laboratory measurements attendance is compulsory. All parts of implementation have to be approved.Laboratory measurements will be done according to the work list.

Content scheduling

In first meeting measurement works will be introduced and working groups will be formed. After that groups are making measurements according to time schedule. Feedback will be in last meeting.

Completion alternatives

It is not possible to accomplish implementation in other way.
