Objectives (course unit)

The students learn to understand the fundamentals of statistics. They can draw the free-body diagrams of a particle and a rigid body and with them calculate the normal force using the balance equation. They understand what different forces mean and are able to define the stress diagram of a straight, simple beam. The students know what the most important factors when measuring are and learn the properties of the most common structures. The students know the basics and differences of different measuring methods.

Content (course unit)

The basic concepts of statics: basic laws of mechanics and force vectors. Resultant and components affecting a particle and its balance. Reducing the force system of a rigid body, load, support, structure model, balance, support reactions and strain. Designing supporting structures, structure types and their operation principles, stability, differences and similarities of different measuring systems, loads. Assignment. Translations

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

Students will be able to use the basics of the course and solve simple applications that are similar to the tasks being handled.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

In addition to the above, the student can apply the course units to different situations and can justify the solutions.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

In addition to the above, the student has a comprehensive understanding of the course topics and their use in problem solving, as well as the ability to present and justify logically selected solution methods.
