Objectives (course unit)
The student knows:
- the general structure and functions of the process automation system
- system functionality and interfaces to other production systems
- Automation language used by one automation system
Content (course unit)
Functional components of the automation system. General structure of automation system. Field device connection to the system. Automation Language.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)
Opiskelija ymmärtää ja osaa kuvailla millainen on prosessiteollisuudessa käytettävä automaatiojärjestelmä. Hän tunnistaa sen keskeiset komponentit ja toimintaperiaatteen.
Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)
Edellisen lisäksi opiskelija ymmärtää, miten järjestelmä rakennetaan ja miten ohjaussovellus toteutetaan.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)
Edellisten lisäksi opiskelija osaa tehdä yksinkertaisen ohjaussovelluksen DCS-järjestelmällä ja valita oikeat komponentit järjestelmään.
