Objectives (course unit)
The objective of the course is to give an understanding of applying information systems, and information and communication technology in social and health care. The course provides the skills to understand and fulfill the obligations of the manufacturers of information systems that process customer and patient data, the information system service providers, and the social and health care service providers.
After completing the course, the student
- knows definitions, terminology and basic concepts of information systems for social welfare and health care
- knows the most important digital wire-based and wireless communication technologies and their application in social and health care
- is able to classify and interpret essential requirements of information systems intended for processing client and patient data in social services and health care
- knows the key regulations and standards, and what information systems those apply to
- is able to solve the most important interoperability issues related to information systems
- is able to evaluate the benefits of typical eHealth applications
- is able to evaluate implementation of information systems from professional’s and customer's point of view
