Objectives (course unit)

Students
-know the physical principles or MRI imaging, the function of MRI equipment and auxiliary equipment
-know how to impact the quality of MRI images by the selection of parameters, know the most common artefacts
-are able to apply their knowledge of topographic anatomy in MRI examinations and know the body planes in use
-are able to name anatomic structures in an MRI image
-know the most common MRI examinations carried out to adults and children
-know the principles of safe working in MRI examinations
-know how to guide patients in MRI examinations
-know the contrast media and intensifiers used in MRI and their use, influence mechanism as well as their side effects and the care of them
-discern the findings discovered with MRI
-know how to act in cases of emergency

-Magnetic Resonance devices with auxiliary equipment
-examination process in MRI examinations
-factors affecting to image composition and image quality
-safety in MRI examinations
-use of contrast media and care of their side effects
-children in MRI examination
-radiology

Prerequisites (course unit)

-adequate knowledge in Human Anatomy and Physiology and Topographic Anatomy
-adequate knowledge and skills in X-ray Examinations

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

-can name anatomic structures in an MRI image
-can describe the principles of safe working in MRI examinations
-can describe the process of MRI examination and guidance of patients
-can describe how to act in cases of emergency in MRI examinations
-can describe the principles of the use of contrast media and intensifiers used in MRI examinations

-can apply the basics of topographic anatomy and can name anatomic structures in an MRI image
-can explain the principles of safe working in MRI examinations
-can explain the process of MRI examination and the guidance of different-aged patients
-begins to discern the findings discovered with MRI
-can explain the contrast media and intensifiers used in MRI and their use, influence mechanism as well as their side effects and the care of them
-can explain how to act in cases of emergency in MRI examinations
