Objectives (course unit)

The student
- is able to apply the principle methods of physiotherapeutic examination
- knows the meaning of physiotherapeutic examination in defining the pt. diagnosis
- can write down the examination results following ethical principles
- is able to work in small groups and make use of it in their own learning
- can act with the principles of first aid and knows the significance of maintaining these skills

Content (course unit)

Content:
- methods of physiotherapeutic examinationt: interviewing, observation, measurement and palpation as well as documenting them
- examination of breathing
- assessment of the function of the musculoskeletal system (joints and spine), assessment of movement (gait)
- assessing balance
- analysis of muscle force and function
- first aid abilities

Assessment criteria, pass/fail (course unit)

Pass
The student is able to describe the function of the muscles and their functional roles in different movements.
The student uses means of physiotherapeutic examination according to the instructions when assessing quality of postures and different movements.
The student returns the tasks related to posture analysis and measurement of range of motion according to the agreed schedule. In these, they demonstrate they are familiar with the physiotherapeutic examination of several individuals using different assessment methods.
The student actively works with all members of the group.
The student receives feedback constructively and develops their own activity.
The student demonstrates their knowledge in basic first aid and has the ability to act in emergency situations.

Fail
The student is not able to describe the function of the muscles and their functional roles in different movements.
The student is not able to comprehensively use physiotherapeutic methods to assess the nature and quality of postures and different movements.
The student does not return tasks related to posture analysis and range of motion measurement within the agreed schedule. The returned assignments do not demonstrate sufficient knowledge in physiotherapeutic examination.
The student selects assignments and partners while practicing.
The student has a negative attitude towards receiving feedback.
The student does not demonstrate their knowledge in basic first aid and does not have the ability to act in situations requiring first aid.
