Objectives (course unit)

The student becomes familiar with the tasks in his / her field and learns new things compared to previous internships. In addition, the aim is to combine theory and practice and to provide a reality-based view of the demands and practices of the industry.

Content (course unit)

The student works as a trainee in the field, keeping a learning diary and completing the learning tasks agreed at the beginning of the training. Traineeships are reported in writing or after a training session. Students are familiar with at least the organizational structure, quality system, management procedures, stakeholders, industry regulations and operational processes.

Further information (course unit)

Students get their trainee jobs on their own intiative. Credit units are applied for with a form after the training in September.

The training job must be in the automotive industry and teach substantially more as opposed to the previous training jobs. For example if the student has previously worked as a car mechanic, this job is no longer accepted as training. The student must move to a completely new job.

A traning agreement is done at the start of the traning between TAMK, student and employer.

Assessment criteria, pass/fail (course unit)

The third year students complete 50 days of training during the summer period, i.e. 15 c.u..

Training must be specific to the studies. Only jobs at undergraduate engineering level are acceptable. The student has completed the given learning assignments and thus fulfills the minimum content requirements.
