Objectives (course unit)

The student is aware of the importance of winter care, winter break, summer care and paving measures for road safety. The student knows the main principles of maintenance and rehabilitation of roads and streets. The student knows the methods of repairing the condition of gravel roads, paved roads and bridges, the causes of damage and the most important measures related to the improvement of structures.

Content (course unit)

Winter maintenance of roads and streets with quality standards, winter maintenance classes, key management measures and follow-up. Maintenance of gravel roads. Origin and classification of winter break, and methods for repairing winter break. Causes of damage to paved roads, types of damage, condition studies and repairs. Inspecting bridges and repairing bridges. Key rail management measures.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

- The student knows the general tasks related to the maintenance of roads, bridges and railways.
- The student is able to list repair methods for roads, bridges and railways.
- The student knows the winter break phenomenon.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

- The student knows the main principles and quality criteria related to road and rail maintenance tasks.
- The student understands the causes of damage to roads and bridges and the most important research and repair methods.
- The student understands the factors affecting the winter break phenomenon.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

- Ed. in addition, the student has a comprehensive understanding of the course topics and their use in problem solving as well as the ability to present, analyze and reason logically solutions.
