Objectives (course unit)

The student is able to
- clarify points of view and needs for change which are related to the use of energy in buildings and also describe their effects on the solutions of the building services
- search for and adapt the energy regulations for the buildings and do proposals and statements to them
- look for the intensifying methods of the use of energy without prejudice in the real estates and to estimate their profitability analytically

Content (course unit)

Change in the energy system, production of the energy and development of distribution systems in area of Finland and EU.
The renewable and others develop sources of energy , for example heat pumps and hybrid systems.
Energy communities, power control, intelligence of buildings.
Energy efficiency, saving possibilities of the energy with structural and building service method. Calculation of the profitability

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

The student is able to describe the basic features of the current state and development perspectives of energy systems. The student is able to name the most common sources of renewable energy and some emerging energy sources. Students show interest in developing future energy solutions that are low-emission and economically viable.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

The student is able to describe comprehensively the current state of energy systems and alternative development perspectives. The student can name various sources of renewable energy and developing energy sources. Students demonstrate their ability to develop future energy solutions that are both low-emission and economically viable.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

The student is able to describe comprehensively and in depth the current state of the energy systems and is able to reasonably describe the alternative development prospects of the energy market. The student demonstrates his / her versatility in the characteristics and potential of renewable energy sources as well as developing energy sources. The student demonstrates his / her theoretical and practical ability to make extensive use of future energy solutions in a resource efficient and economically viable manner.
