Building Systems Project Management (5cr)

Objectives (course unit)

The students learn the different fields of project management: scheduling, budgeting, safety, quality and project information management.
The students gain a broad overview of the contract laws directing a construction project. The students also deepen their previous knowledge of the contracts in the construction industry.

Content (course unit)

Scheduling techniques and software, follow-up and management of schedules, cost accounting methods in different stages of the project and keeping track of costs, quality and safety management of a construction project, project data banks and project communications.
The course covers construction legislations, such as the Land Use and Building Act and Housing Transactions Act. The students also deepen their knowledge on the General conditions for building contracts (YSE98), General conditions for consulting (KSE98), General procurement and delivery terms for construction products (RYHT2000). The course also covers modern construction contracts, such as life cycle contracts.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

The handling of the student's contract technical assignment is superficial and incomplete, and various aspects of law have not been comprehensively considered. The presentation is fragmented. The student is able to describe the essential parts of project management.
Student participation and involvement in cooperative activities is low.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

The student contract work is fairly comprehensive and there are no legal issues.
The presentation is illustrative.
The student is able to make a workable and clear timetable. He has extensive project management expertise.
The student is active and cooperative.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

The contract practice exercise is comprehensive and in-depth, presenting and applying different aspects of the law. The performance is commendable and stimulating.
The student masters all aspects of project management and demonstrates their smooth application.
Expertise is smooth and extensive.
The student acts spontaneously, actively and cooperatively.
