Objectives (course unit)

The student can
• describe the effects of light on humans
• professionally use basic lighting quantities
• choose the appropriate lighting control for the conventional design site
• Compare different solutions
• integrate the lighting control system into the property management system
• Determine the importance of lighting in the energy consumption of properties and present energy efficient, appropriate lighting options.

Content (course unit)

Calculation and determination of basic quantities of light. Lighting Design Goals and Indoor Workplace Lighting Standard. Light sources, luminaire structures, ballasts, lighting control and regulation. Economic use of lighting. Energy efficiency of lighting. Lighting control systems and interfaces between control systems.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

The student can name the basic quantities of light and other relevant terms.
He / she can outline the goals of lighting
He / she is able to name the basic lighting controls and explain their principle and some possibilities for utilization.
The student is able to make large life cycle cost calculations for lighting.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

The student is able to name and use basic quantities of light and other relevant terms in a professional manner. In addition, he can describe the basic effects of light on the human being transmitted through the visual organ.
The student is able to determine the needs of a lighting solution
Can name and document basic lighting controls and explain their principle and appropriate utilization possibilities.
The student is able to make lighting life-cycle cost calculations and to take into account the effects of control at some level. They are able to compare lighting solutions based on technical and economic aspects.
The student is able to utilize control systems in lighting control.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

The student is able to name and use basic quantities of light and other relevant terms in a professional manner. In addition, he can describe the basic effects of light on the human being transmitted through the visual organ.
He / she can design the lighting solution he / she has defined.
They will be able to name the basic lighting controls and explain their principle and appropriate utilization possibilities. They will be able to document their lighting plans and justify their lighting choices, necessity and standard. In addition, he / she is able to justify and document the control solutions made and their operation.
The student is able to make lighting life cycle cost calculations and also take into account the effects of control. They are able to compare lighting solutions on the basis of technical and economic considerations and make informed choices.
The student is able to implement a lighting control system and integrate it into a comprehensive property management system.

Exam schedules

Ei tenttejä, kurssi arvioidaan harjoitustyöllä ja muilla mahdollisilla erikseen osoitettavilla harjoituksilla. Harjoitustyön palautusajankohta on sunnuntai 21.5.2023. Myöhässä palautettuja harjoitustöitä ei arvioida. Harjoitustyötä ei ole mahdollisuus uusia tai korottaa.
