Patient Care and Basic Training (5cr)

Objectives (course unit)

Students
-know the basics of patient care and their meaning in caring for the patient
-know how to perform patient care in multi-cultural examination and treatment situations
-know the basics of aseptic working
-know the helping methods which are used in the care of an adult patient
-know how to work ergonomically in patient care and are able to apply that knowledge
-know basics of structured recording
-are able to evaluate and develop their skills
-know how to use basic helping methods in patient care in laboratory situations

Content (course unit)

-environment of patient care
-assisting methods of patient care and patient's holistic care (activity, tissue integrity, breathing, circulation, nutrition and secreting)
-multi-cultural examination and treatment environment
-pain and pain relief
-patient care of a trauma patient, surgical patient, transient ischaemic attack patient, diabetes patient, cancer patient and patient who has cardiovascular diseases
-work ergonomics
-structured recording
-practice of the helping methods of patient care at the school

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

-can define the process of patient care and the basic concepts of patient care
-can define multiculturalism in examination and treatment situations
-can name the basic needs of the human being
-can name helping methods used in patient care
-can describe the principles of aseptic working in patient care
-can describe the principles of adult patient care
-can operate in a group and participates in the basic training actively
-is motivated and takes responsibility for his/her own development

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

-can explain the process of patient care and the basic concepts of patient care
-can explain multiculturalism in examination and treatment situations
-can describe the basic needs of the human being and how they can be answered by the helping methods used in patient care
-can explain how aseptics are carried out in patient care
-can explain how an adult patient can be taken care of according to the principles of patient care
-can operate in a group and participates in the basic training actively
-is motivated and takes responsibility for his/her own development

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

-can reasonably explain the process of patient care and the basic concepts of patient care and can see their connection to the radiographer's profession
-can validate different course of actions in multicultural examination and treatment situations
-can reasonably explain the basic needs of the human being and how they can be answered by the helping methods used in patient care
-can reasonably explain how aseptics are carried out in patient care
-can widely explain how an adult patient can be taken care of according to the principles of patient care
-masters the central matters logically without mistakes showing competence of the wholeness and ability to combine matters
-can operate in a group and participates in the basic training actively
-is motivated and takes responsibility for his/her own development

Assessment criteria, pass/fail (course unit)

Fail:
-the test is failed if the student causes a patient drawback, damage or mortal danger on the basis of the answers

SAMK kampus Pori, toteutusaika 3.4.-27.5.2023 lukujärjestyksessä olevien tietojen mukaisesti.

Exam schedules

Kirjallinen koe Examissa, tenttiperiodi: 22.5.-27.5.2023

Hylätyn kokeen voi uusia yhteensä kaksi kertaa.

1. uusintakoe: 28.8.-2.9.2023
2. uusintakoe: 2.-7.10.2023

Assessment methods and criteria

Osa 1 Hoitotyö; Tentti (numeraalinen arviointi) ja annettujen tehtävien tekeminen hyväksytysti
Osa 2 Orientoiva harjoittelu: Aktiivinen osallistuminen, hyväksytty/täydennettävä/ hylätty
Orientaatiotunnilla ja orientoivan harjoittelujen tunneilla pakollinen läsnäolo. Orientoiva harjoittelu 100% läsnäolo.

Luento-opetus, itsenäinen työskentely, verkko-opetus, tehtävät, pienryhmätyöskentely, laboraatiotyöskentely/työpajatyöskentely.

HOITOTYÖN OSUUDEN TARKENNETUT SISÄLLÖT:
- Hoitotyön perusteet (keskeiset käsitteet, hoitotyön periaatteet, hoitotyön prosessi, hoitotyön monikulttuurinen ympäristö)
- Aseptiikka hoitotyössä, suojainten käyttö
- Ravitsemus (sis. nenämahaletkun laitto)
- Erittäminen (virtsaaminen, katetrointi)
- Hengitys ja sen tukeminen & tarkkailu (sis. trakeostomiapotilaan hoito)
- Verenkierto ja sen tukeminen & tarkkailu
- Sisätauti-kirurgisen potilaan hoitotyö:
o sydän- ja verisuonisairauksia sairastavan hoitotyö
o Neurologisen potilaan hoitotyö (tajunnan tason tarkkailu, AVH, GCS)
o Syöpä- ja diabetespotilaan hoitotyö
o Leikkauspotilaan hoitotyö (pre- ja postoperatiivinen hoito)
o Murtuma- ja traumapotilaan hoitotyö
- Kipu ja sen hoito

Orha 4: Perifeerisen laskimon kanylointi ja laskimonsisäinen lääke- ja nestehoito
Orha 5: Potilaan tarkkailu (ABCDE, NEWS)
