Objectives (course unit)

Students
-know the general x-ray examinations of adults and children and know the key concepts related to them
-know the procedure of x-ray examination
-know how to work with patients in imaging
-are able to evaluate x-ray pictures and name some anatomic structures from it
-know and recognize normal and pathological states in the skeleton and body of different-aged patients from x-ray pictures
-are interested in their own learning about imaging and safe medical use of ionizing radiation and have a positive attitude towards developing continuously

Content (course unit)

-the procedure of x-ray examination
-x-ray examinations of extremities and body and the key concepts related to them
-x-ray examinations of children
-care and guidance of different-aged patients in x-ray examinations
-radiology (thorax, skeleton, teeth and ultrasound)

Prerequisites (course unit)

-adequate knowledge about the anatomy of the human musculoskeletal system
-adequate knowledge about radiation physics and the technique of imaging

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

-can name the phases of the x-ray and ultrasound examination process
-can name how to act with different-aged patients in imaging examinations
-can name the criteria for a good x-ray picture in the most general x-ray examinations
-can name normal and pathological states in the skeleton and thorax of different-aged patients

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

-can explain the phases of the x-ray and ultrasound examination process
-can explain how to act with different-aged patients in imaging examinations
-can name the criteria for a good x-ray picture in detail and point out anatomic structures from an x-ray picture
-can explain normal and pathological states in the skeleton and body of different-aged patients

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

-can reasonably explain the phases of the x-ray and ultrasound examination process
-can reasonably explain how to act with different-aged patients in imaging examinations
-can name all or almost all of the criteria for a good x-ray picture and point out anatomic structures from an x-ray picture
-can reasonably explain normal and pathological states in the skeleton and thorax of different-aged patients
