- knows the preanalytical requirements and clinical relevance of bacteriological samples
- is able to consider and ensure the validity of bacteriological samples
- is familiar with the devices, equipment, and analytical methods used in bacteriology
- is able to perform reliable basic bacteriology analyses and understands the fundamentals of their operation
- can maintain and promote safe working methods in bacteriology
- knows microbes, infectious diseases and their prevention and treatment and is able to integrate this knowledge in evaluating and reporting results
- knows the most common antimicrobics, and their influence and resistance mechanisms
- is familiar with the reporting and registration practice of infectious diseases
- implements and promotes quality assurance in clinical microbiology
- is interested in developing his/her competence

Content (course unit)

Analytical process in bacteriological laboratory, devices, equipment, and analytical methods
Collection and preanalytics of bacteriological samples
Identification methods of bacteria and their selection
Safety and quality assurance in bacteriology
