Objectives (course unit)

The student
- knows the principles of physiotherapeutic assessment as part of the physiotherapeutic process
- knows the function and activity roles of the human musculoskeletal system
- understands and can justify the meaning of documentation, its ethical principles and
responsibility in physiotherapy
- is able to write structured and clear text according to TAMK’s instructions
- understands the meaning of various loading factors of the musculoskeletal system for the physical functioning ability
- knows the structure and basic function of the peripheral nervous system
- is able to use and assess knowledge from different sources.

Content (course unit)

Content:
- physiotherapeutic assessment and documentation as a part of the physiotherapy process
- principles of differentiated assessment of the limbs and spine
- peripheral nervous system
- motor control
-basics of walking analysis
- titles of physiotherapy
- ICF and documentation in physiotherapy
- instructions of written communication in TAMK

Prerequisites (course unit)

Opintojaksolle osallistumisen edellytyksenä on osallistuminen edelliseen opintokokonaisuuteen Ihminen toimivana kokonaisuutena.

Assessment criteria, pass/fail (course unit)

Pass
The student actively participates in the discussion of the topic using relevant reference material.
The student is able to describe human movement and movement enabling factors related to physiotherapeutic examination.
The student performs written communication and physiotherapeutic documentation assignments according to the objectives and following the given documentation instructions, as well as returning them within the agreed schedule.
The student is able to produce structurally good, demonstrative, factual problem-based text, in which they justify convincingly and comprehensively.
The student gets 75% correct in the nervous system anatomy exam.

Fail
The student does not participate in the discussion of the topic using relevant reference material.
The student is not able to describe human movement and movement enabling factors related to physiotherapeutic examination.
The student does not return the written communication or physiotherapeutic documentation assignments within the agreed schedule, and has not followed the given documentation instructions.
The student gets less than 75% correct in the nervous system anatomy exam.
