Objectives (course unit)

The practical training in Proakatemia is carried out by doing projects for the students’ own teamcompany. The student keep a diary of the projects. The diary is used to determine the accumulation of credits. The student must also write pre- and post-project reports, which are discussed with the team and the coach. The student gets feedback from the customer/client, too.

Together with their team, a team entrepreneur knows how to
- design a business project to be implemented in a team enterprise
- market and sell the business product or service to the customer
- implement a business project in practice, taking into account contracts and customer relations
- manage the finances, human resources and communication of the business project
- take into account the principles of ethical and sustainable business in the planning and implementation of projects

Assessment criteria, pass/fail (course unit)

Approved when
the student has designed and implemented a project or projects for clients of a team company. Both design and implementation are reported and success, lessons learned and areas for improvement are assessed.

Fail if
the student's project does not have a client or has not been implemented in practice.

Location and time

No given timetables. There are training sessions twice a week but otherwise, the team decides its timetables and everyone is responsible of their own time management. The most important tool is a calendar. It is important to find your motivation for independent learning and self-development. Responsibility and freedom go hand-in-hand.

Exam schedules

No exam; the hours are recorded and reported as agreed in the team.

Assessment methods and criteria

Working hours, reported as agreed in the team.
Customer projects and their self-, peer- and coach evaluation, and most importantly customer feedback.

Teaching methods

Studies start by establishing a team enterprise of appr. 15 - 20 students. Everyone has passed the preparatory courses of the first semester. The students start to work in their team company, find information, learn, read professional literature, and participate in seminars.

There are almost no traditional lectures or exams. Learning is based on doing. The studies consist of team meetings, learning cells, business development, independent information research, and projects. Projects are about i.e. marketing, communications, sales, event organizing, graphical design, project management, innovation, and ict. Nothing forbids implementing projects that your team is interested in (as long as they are legal).

Project studies and practical placements are carried out in customer projects.

Learning materials

At Proakatemia we value reading. You may choose your readings according to your professional interests and current needs from the book lists, or based on recommendations from coaches or other teampreneurs. You'll publish essays in the Bank of Essays. The content is applied to projects, to the team's business and self-development - theory to practice.

Student workload

1 cr = 27 hours of work.

Content scheduling

Projects go on during the studies, according to sales and customers' needs.

Completion alternatives

Practical placement is conducted by working on customer projects of your team company. Project study alternatives may be discussed with your coach.

Practical training and working life cooperation

All the projects have customer(s) and the work is done for the customer or according to the negotiated deal.

International connections

The project can be international.
