Objectives (course unit)

Student:
- deepens and clarifies one’s own educational awareness and applying one’s own ideas in practical educational situations.
- recognize one’s role and responsibilities in supporting the growth, development and learning of a child.
- can apply the main goals and values of early childhood education while working in kindergarten.
- knows the basic task and social importance of day care.
- can establish a safe and confidential interaction with children and is able to take into account the individual needs of children.
- knows the basics of National and municipal Core Curriculum for early childhood education and knows the main goals and purpose of ECEC.
- can plan, implement and evaluate pedagogically meaningful activities, utilizing different educational methods according the transversal competences and learning areas
- understands the importance of goal-oriented approach in pedagogy and can set realistic goals for the growth and development of children.
- knows child and family services and determines the provision of services in the municipality where takes place.
- participates in daily co-operation with guardians and achieves certainty and skills to meet different families

Assessment criteria, pass/fail (course unit)

Rejected: Student has not achieved a good level in relation to the goals of the internship (grade 3) * Students' skills, thinking, knowledge and attitude do not indicate advanced social skills. * The student's theoretical knowledge remains on a descriptive and determinative level. The student is not able to apply the relations between phenomena and concepts in his / her practice at the internship place or in the internship report. * The student does not assume professional responsibility for his / her activities at the internship. Admitted: * Student skills, thinking, knowledge and attitude demonstrate advanced social skills. * The student will structure the relationships between related phenomena and concepts and be able to apply them in his / her work placement and in his / her practice report. * The student takes responsibility and undertakes not only his / her own activities, but also client work and internship activities.
