Objectives (course unit)

Students
- know how to examine and assess the changes in respiratory functionality and their effects on movement and functional ability
- know how to guide respiratory functions by taking into account the patient’s personal resources
- know how to examine and assess changes in heart and blood circulation functionality and their effects on movement and functional ability
- know how to guide a heart rehabilitation patient by taking into account the patient’s personal resources
- know how to implement pre- and postoperative physiotherapy in an evidence based manner
- know how to examine and assess the movement and functional ability of a neurological rehabilitation patient
- develop their own body awareness and the understanding of body sensations
- know how to instruct body awareness to the patient
- know how to choose and to instruct the usage of suitable mobility aids and ADLs
- know how to supervise different physiotherapy groups
- always work according to professional ethical principles
- know how to make decisions in unanticipated situations

Content (course unit)

- applications of instruction in the therapy pool
- supervision of adults groups
- respiratory physiotherapy: assessment of respiratory resources and examination of respiratory functions
- heart physiotherapy: assessment of the resources and problems of heart patients
- examination of movement and functional ability of a neurological rehabilitation patient
- assisting a neurological rehabilitation patient in relearning the motoric skills
- body awareness
- resource awareness

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

Evaluation criteria, Satisfactory (1-2):
The student:
- manages to complete exercises partly under guidance
- works in a mechanical way, grounding the used methods vaguely on inadequate references
- does not prepare well for given assignments
- instructs the client unpurposefully

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

Evaluation criteria, Good (3-4):
The student:
- can apply their knowledge purposefully to fit the situation at hand, and justifies their methods mainly based on the level of knowledge
- can somewhat define physiotherapeutic diagnose and is capable of some clinical reasoning
- prepares carefully and systematically for study situations
- practices actively and can make use of instructions

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

Evaluation criteria, Excellent (5):
The student:
- is able to combine new and existing information to learn from the task at hand
- can define physiotherapeutic diagnosis and is capable of clinical reasoning
- practices actively
- can evaluate their practice and learning
- recognises and describes the limits of their professional competence in a multiprofessional environment
- justifies their actions profoundly
- can work in good interaction with the client

Evaluation criteria, pass/fail:
A failed mark is the result of the student withdrawing, selecting or disregarding assignments during lessons and instructive situations. The student does not concentrate during excercises. The student has several absences from the practical lessons. Basic knowledge and skills are inadequate.
