Objectives (course unit)
The student is able to
- describe the type of technical documentation that building automation systems are typically produced in the building design phase
- recognize the equipment in the documents and understands the significance of the equipment markings
- find out how the most common field devices work
- explain the principles of data transfer in building automation systems
- describe the characteristics and requirements of the fieldbus standards used in the property
Content (course unit)
Building automation system documentation, field equipment, building automation system structure, communication protocols and fieldbus, cloud services, and basic SCADA solutions
Prerequisites (course unit)
HVAC Building Services Engineering in Residential Buildings module
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)
The student recognizes system-related components and can name them. The student understands what is the significance of a building automation system for a property. The student identifies the most common fieldbus standards.
Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)
The student understands the general characteristics of field equipment used in building automation. The student is able to choose field equipment and system equipment to be used in building automation systems based on the requirements set for them. The student is able to describe the requirements of the most common fieldbus standards.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)
The student is able to define requirements for field equipment and system equipment. The student is able to define requirements for integration of equipment and other systems in the property.
