Objectives (course unit)

The student knows the basic use of some commercial network information system. The student is able to design a low voltage transformer circuit according to the requirements of techno-economics. The student is able to design a medium-voltage power line with a shield and select suitable components.

Content (course unit)

Use of a network information system as a distribution network design tool. Design of low and medium voltage network utilizing network information system.

The study is supported, for example, by the Tekla NIS network information system.

The student knows the basic design criteria of electrical distribution networks.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

The student is able to plan basic low voltage network.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

The student is able to plan basic medium and low voltage networks.

Exercises 3 pieces, in pairs
- planning of the electrical network of the planning area
- Medium voltage network design and substation design
- Low voltage network conversion circuit design
Evaluated with a grade of 1-5
Exam on design principles

Teaching methods

The main focus of the study is independent work (exercises done in pairs). Learning is supported with information shocks and learning materials.

Exercises have been rejected. The exercises have not been returned or there are essential and significant deficiencies in the assignments.
The student does not recognize and does not know how to apply the design criteria of electrical networks.

Assessment criteria - satisfactory (1-2) (Not in use, Look at the Assessment criteria above)

The exercises have been returned as approved. The solutions do not contain significant errors. There may be some calculation errors in the solution, but they do not lead to essential error solutions (= correct order of magnitude). The factors and criteria mentioned in the assignment have been taken into account, but the reasoning is not perfect.
The student manages the design criteria of electrical networks helpfully.

The solutions have been carefully made and do not contain significant errors, there may be individual calculation errors, but they do not lead to essential error solutions.
