Objectives (course unit)

The students learn the methods, markings and instructions of bench marking, and settlement construction, site measurements in road, land and watersite surveyings. They learn about precise levelling, traverse and staking out and trigonometric levelling measuring and calculations. The focus of the course is terrain model surveying and creating a terrain model with 3D-win software as well as measuring its accuracy including volume calculations with computer. The basic and civil engineering applications of satellite positioning works and instruments. The common errors of total stations. Surveying instruments in landwork machine automation applications.

Content (course unit)

Precise levelling, mapping and staking out surveying with field computer, traverse, terrain models and terrain model surveying, satellite positioning surveying, volume calculation and landwork machine automation surveying applications.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

The student is able to identify and define the basics of the course and solve simple questions
applications that are similar to the tasks being handled.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

In addition to the above, the student is able to choose the most suitable one by applying and comparing different options
policy and justify their choices

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

In addition to the above, the student has a comprehensive understanding of the course topics and their use
problem solving; and the ability to present, analyze, and justify logically handled issues and methods of solution.
