Objectives (course unit)

Student is able to:
- understand basic terminology of geometry and trigonometry
- calculate areas and volumes of two- and three-dimensional objects
-use equations involving trigonometric functions and recognize graphs of them
- apply vectors to technical problems
- perform calculations with complex numbers
- perform basic calculations with matrices and apply them in practical problems

Content (course unit)

Geometry, areas and volumes, trigonometry, trigonometric functions and their properties, vector calculus and applications, complex numbers, matrices, group of linear equations.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

Understanding of basic concepts related to course topics. Capability to calculate exercises that are similar to discussed examples.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

Understanding of basic and advanced concepts related to course topics. Ability to apply them in basic technical problems.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

In addition, ability to apply course topics in advanced problems.

Evaluation methods and criteria

The course grade will be determined based on the following themes:

Lesson activity max 20 points
Lesson exercises max 20 points
Given assignments max 30 points
Reports on given topics max 30 points

Exercises, assignments and reports to be returned in Moodle. The reports and assignments may include a presentation of the subject to the class. Some of the reports and assignments may be done in groups.

The weight of the theme on the grade in parentheses.
Necessary condition for course completion is 70% class attendance.

The grade thresholds as a percentage of the maximum possible score.
35%: 1
50%: 2
65%: 3
80%: 4
90%: 5

Material, theory and exercises can be found in Tuni Moodle. If necessary, a student can use math books he/she has used before and/or online sources to obtain more information about the topics. A student can also borrow books in a local library.
