Objectives (course unit)
After completing this course student:
- can use quantities and units
- knows the fundamental laws of mechanics, fluid mechanics and thermophysics
- can describe phenomena by using quantities and their dependences and make justified solutions of related problems
- can make and interpret graphical presentations
- knows how to describe heat and fluid and their transfer.
- has developed his/her technological and scientific way of thinking.

- Modelling of translational and rotational motion
- Force and Newton´s laws
- Work and energy principles
- Humidity
- thermal expansion, heat, calorimetry, transfer of heat
- Fluid mechanics
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)
Knowledge of the most essential phenomena and related quantities and units in mechanics and thermophysics. Capability to analyse, when guided qualitatively and quantitatively simple cases related phenomena similar to discussed examples.
Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)
In addition capability to apply the principles to new situations. Can use the terminology and models in presentations of justified qualitative and quantitative analyses of phenomena.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)
In addition, versatile and fluent ability to analyse phenomena qualitatively and quantitatively realizing the limitations related to theories in use.
