Objectives (course unit)

Student knows:
- basic laws of thermophysics, air humidity, electricity, oscillations and sound physics and how they are related to construction engineering.
- quantities and units used to describe the phenomena in the field of construction engineering.
- describe a real problem setting with the laws of physics, form equations and solve the required quantities.

Content (course unit)

Temperature, heat, heat transfer, thermal expansion, thermal stress, heat pumps, basics of electricity, humidity and capillarity, diffusion, oscillations, wave motion, sound physics, radioactivity and radon.

Prerequisites (course unit)

Mechanics

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

Student is able to use quantities and units. Sudent is able to solve problems which resemble those given as examples during the course or student needs guidance in problem solving.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

In addition to previous, student is able to use the laws of physics to solve new problems and to justify the solution.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

In addition to previous, student has a comprehensive understanding of the laws of physics in the field of building physic and fluent skill to analyze and solve even complicated problems and justify the solution.
