Objectives (course unit)

The Student
- knows the structure of the basic tissue types and the way they form the organs
- knows the structure and function of the blood, cardiovascular system and respiratory system

The student
- recognises the basic tissue types, can name those and knows the way they form the organs
- knows basics of the structure and function of the blood, cardiovascular system and respiratory system

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

The student
- knows the strucutre and functions of tissues
- knows the structure and function of the blood, cardiovascular system and respiratory system
- knows the strucutre and functions of human body and is able to describe the relationship of the functions to each other

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

The student
- has a broad understanding of the structure and importance of tissues for the functioning of the body as a whole
- has an in-depth knowledge of the structure and function of the human circulatory and respiratory system
- is able to apply his / her knowledge of anatomy and physiology, demonstrates the mastery of entities and is able to combine theoretical knowledge with the professional context

Exam schedules

ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY:
Written exam open in moodle: 18.4. - 24.4.2022

Retake 1: 23.5. - 29.5.2022
Retake 2: 22.8. - 28.8.2022
The student has two possibilities to retake the exam.

The student has a right to raise the grade one time in Exam (Terveysyksikön korotustenttipäivä) Exact weeks are found from Intra. Registration will be done to teacher at least two weeks before the exam period.

Assessment methods and criteria

ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY:
Evaluation of the students performance is done with written exam. Grades are 0-5, 0 meaning disqualification and 5 meaning excellent knowledge. Grade 1 requires 60% of the maximum points.

Teaching methods

Classroom lectures (some of the lectures will be via Zoom), independent studying and working in small groups.

ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY:
Information about the methods, aims and studying strategy will be given on the first contact classroom meeting
TISSUES:
The student understands the structure of the basic tissue types and the way they form the organs.
BLOOD AND IMMUNOLOGY
The student knows the composition of the blood, understands its importance in the maintenance of homeostasis and in the transportation of various substances and regulation of body temperature. heat.
The student understands the role of blood in the body's defense and knows the events in blood clotting.
STRUCTURE AND FUNCTIONS OF HEART AND CIRCULATION
The student knows the structure of the heart and the circulation of the cardiac wall and can identify the large blood vessels and knows their structure. The student knows the cardiac cycle and the conduction system.
The student understands basic factors affecting the formation of blood pressure and the importance of blood pressure to hemodynamics.
The student knows the terminology related to blood pressure and understands blood flow regulation.
RESPIRATORY SYSTEM AND ITS FUNCTIONS
The student knows the anatomy of the airways as well as the lung structure.
The student is able to explain lung ventilation, gas exchange in the alveolar level, transportation of gases in the blood, and understands the importance of cell respiration
The student understands the importance of ventilation in maintaining homeostasis, knows the regulation of ventilation and the volume of breathing
