Bachelor's Thesis (15 cr)

Objectives (course unit)

The goal of the bachelor's thesis is to develop and show the students’ ability to apply their knowledge and skills in the practical expert tasks relating to their professional studies in building services engineering. The students show their capability for independent, long-span and target-oriented research work, in-depth handling of the topic they have chosen and outlined and reporting their work according to the requirements set for the bachelor's. The students are capable for independent information search, know how to apply their knowledge into practice and to give development suggests to the client of the bachelor thesis. The thesis must show familiarity with the topic of the thesis, mastery of the research methods needed as well as professional communication.

Content (course unit)

The students usually choose the topic for the bachelor's thesis themselves. The bachelor's thesis must focus on a topic, which is relevant for tasks which form the basis of the degree programme. It can be a part of a single or multidisciplinary project or research. Bachelor's thesis orientation is a mandatory part of the course.

Location and time

Lokakuu 2021 - Huhtikuu 2022. Opiskelija on itse velvollinen selvittämään TAMK:n aikataulut työn hyväksymiseen ja valmistumisen aikatauluihin liittyen.

Exam schedules

Kypsyysnäyte suoritetaan erikseen ilmoitettavalla tavalla henkilökohtaisena suorituksena.

Teaching methods

Yleiset ohjaustilaisuudet ja väliseminaarit. Itsenäinen työskentely ohjaavan opettajan alaisuudessa. Aiheen etsintä ja tutkimuksen suunnitteleminen. Itsenäinen tiedonhaku. Tutkimuksen toteuttaminen ja raportoiminen.

Learning materials

Tieteellisen raportoinnin ohjeet. Itsenäisesti suoritettava tiedonhaku ja tiedon asianmukainen rajaaminen sekä jäsentäminen.

Student workload

Opinnäytetyön laskennallinen kuormitus on 400h opiskelijan työtä joka vastaa 2,5kk kokopäiväistä työskentelyä.

Content scheduling

Opinnäytetyö koostuu kolmesta 5 OP osiosta: Suunnittelu, toteutus ja raportointi.

Completion alternatives

Muualla hyväksytty opinnäytetyö voidaan hyväksilukea tai sisällyttää tutkintoon, mikäli työn aihe ja raportointi täyttävät koulutuksen tavoitteet opinnäytetyölle.

Practical training and working life cooperation

Opinnäytetyö voidaan suorittaa TAMK:n ulkopuoliselle toimeksiantajalla hankkeistettuna työnä. Työn aiheen suositellaan olevan työelämässä ajankohtainen tutkimus-, kehitys- tai selvitystoimeksianto.

International connections

Opinnäytetyön arviointikriteereissä suositellaan voimakkaasti vieraskielisten lähteiden käyttämiseen. Opinnäytetyön voi kirjoittaa myös englanniksi mikäli toimeksianto tämän mahdollistaa tai sitä edellyttää.
