Supervised Clinical Training 6, Pre-pregnancy and Antenatal Midwifery Care (7 cr)

Objectives (course unit)

The student
- is able to implement the customer oriented follow up and guidance during pregnancy independently and safely
- knows how to support and assess the wellbeing of foetus and pregnant woman, identify risks / abnormalities and take care of the further examinations
- knows how to support the positive pregnancy experience for women
- masters how to implement and guide screening during pregnancy and how to interpret results
- meets the patient, family, and the members of work group in an appropriate and respectful manner
- reflects and evaluates his/her own activities realistically and is able to give and receive feedback

Content (course unit)

- 5 weeks supervised clinical training in maternity clinic
- methods of foetal and maternal wellbeing screening and support
- guidance and support of pregnant women, their families and significant others
- prenatal screening and guidance of them
- breastfeeding guidance during pregnancy
- participating parental and birth education
- multidiscipline professional working in a group
- pre-pregnancy health promotion
- normal progress of pregnancy and support of physiological processes

Participated to Pre-pregnancy and antenatal midwifery care.

- knows how to support women in the positive pregnancy experience
- masters how to implement the screening during pregnancy and how to interpret results and organize further examinations
- reflects and evaluates his/her own activities realistically and is able to give and receive feedback
- follows the confidentiality and data protection guidelines
- follows in his / her actions the agreed rules of the supervised practical training

Failed
The student
- is not able to implement the customer oriented follow up during pregnancy independently
- evaluates her/his own competence unrealistically and endangering patient safety
- is not able to give customer oriented guidance
- is not able to perform and interpret screening during pregnancy
- communication with the pregnant woman, families and work group is unprofessional
- violates confidentiality or patient privacy
- fails to follow the agreed rules for supervised practice
- evaluates her/his own competence unrealistically and is unable to receive feedback

Assessment methods and criteria

Hyväksyttyyn suoritukseen vaaditaan, että tavoitteet, tunnit ja kätilöopiskelijan harjoittelun työkirjan tapaukset riittävällä tavalla täyttyvät.
Opiskelijan itsearvioint sekä ohjaajan ja opettajan kanssa käyty palaute- ja arviointikeskustelu.

Esitietovaatimus: Osallistuminen Raskaana olevan naisen ja perheen kätilötyö opintojakson teoriaopetukseen ja kokeen hyväksytty suorittaminen ennen harjoittelua. Sairaanhoitajavaiheen opinnot suoritettuna lukuun ottamatta opinnäytetyötä ja kieliopintoja

- osaa tehdä ja tulkita raskaudenajan seulontatutkimukset, havaita mahdolliset poikkeamat raskauden kulussa, sikiön voinnissa ja kehityksessä sekä osaa ohjata odottajan tarvittaessa jatkohoitoon
- osaa kirjata raskaudenaikaista seurantaa ja ohjausta sekä tehdä lähetteitä tarvittaessa
- osaa tehdä ulkotutkimuksen raskauden eri vaiheissa ja tunnistaa poikkeavuudet siinä
- osallistuu neuvolassa toteutettavaan perhevalmennukseen (vähit. 3 kertaa)
- osaa toimia moniammatillisessa yhteistyössä
- osaa toteuttaa ohjatusti jälkitarkastuksen
- osaa arvioida omaa osaamistaan ja ottaa palautetta vastaan

Opiskelija
- ei kykene pitämään itsenäisesti säännöllisen raskauden neuvolakäyntiä
- ei osaa tehdä ja tulkita raskaudenajan seulontatutkimuksia
-ei osaa tarkkailla luotettavasti raskaana olevan eikä sikiön vointia eri menetelmin, eikä tunnista tilanteissa tapahtuvia muutoksia eikä lähettää odottajaa jatkohoitoon
- ei suoriudu ulkotutkimuksen teosta, eikä osaa toteuttaa sikiön voinnin seurantaa luotettavasti
- ei osaa ohjata raskaana olevaa asiakaslähtöisesti, vetäytyy ohjaustilanteista
- ei tunnista osaamisensa rajoja, vaarantaa toiminnallaan raskaana olevan ja sikiön turvallisuuden
- vuorovaikutus raskaana olevan, perheen ja/tai työyhteisön kanssa on epäammatillista
- toimii epäeettisesti suhteessa asiakkaisiin ja työyhteisöön
