Objectives (course unit)
The student
- has mastered the basics of individual nursing of acutely ill medical-surgical patients;
- is able to work safely and ethically;
- is able to work showing expertise in medical-nursing patient care;
- utilises quality control methods in the development of his/her own work and the work community;
Content (course unit)

Prerequisites (course unit)
First year and middle phase studies completed, at least 135 credits, including the basic-level studies in the field of the advanced professional studies. Participation in Acute Nursing 4 ects.
Location and time
weeks 34-39. Alternative timing is possible, but needs to be agreed with teacher tutor.

Teaching methods
Supervised Clinical Training in acute care nursing settings, for example in first aid/emergency care units, intensive care units, admission units, observation units, acute inpatient wards.
Assignment and possible seminar instructions will be given in August during the info meeting for clinical training 10.8. (mandatory participation).
Learning materials
Study material and recommended literature given for courses Acute Care Nursing and Orientation to Clinical Training, Acute Nursing. Other material may given during info meeting.
Student workload
In total 243 hours, the actual hours in clinical training place will be 230 hours, 13 hours for independent study and preparations.
