Objectives (course unit)
The student is able to
- collect reliable samples for blood transfusion serological tests and evaluate the quality of the samples
- collect, handle, preserve and transport blood transfusion serology specimens according to the working instructions
- know the basic analytical and operational principles of analysers used for blood transfusion serological tests
- perform blood transfusion serological tests under supervision by analysers and manual methods
- interpret the results of blood transfusion serological tests and consider the need for further action
- apply theoretical knowledge to the duties of the hospital blood bank
- evaluate their own professional development during the training period

The student is able to apply the acquired theoretical knowledge while participating in the work of hospital blood bank. The student is able to handle, process and send blood products according to the instructions. The student is able to perform blood transfusion serological tests with analysers and, if necessary and under supervision, by manual methods. The student is able to evaluate the reliability of the results and to consider the need for further actions. The student participates in the training as an active and responsible member of the work group. The student is able to evaluate his/her own professional development during the period.
