Orientation to Clinical Training: Medication (1 cr)

Objectives (course unit)

The student
- is able to administer the patient's medication safely and correctly by means of medical calculations and to explain the decisions he/she has made
- is able to use different databases in medication-related decision-making
- is able to perform subcutaneous and intramuscular injections in accordance with the principles of patient safety

Content (course unit)

- Planning the implementation of the patient's medication and measuring the medication into patient-specific doses
- Using different medical databases (Nursing Pharmaca Fennica, Duodecim Medical Database and Pharmaca Fennica) in medication-related decision-making
- subcutaneous and intramuscular injection

Prerequisites (course unit)

Participation in courses on Infection Control and Pharmacotherapy and Medical Calculations.

Assessment criteria, pass/fail (course unit)

Pass
The student
- is able to plan and implement the patient’s medication safely
- works professionally and ethically

Fail
The student
- puts patient safety at risk

Ennakkotestien ja tehtävän tekeminen orientoivan harjoittelun tunneille.
Kaikilla orientoivan harjoittelun tunneilla läsnäolo ja aktiivinen osallistuminen opetukseen.
