Objectives (course unit)

The student
• masters the highly specialised concepts and knowledge corresponding to the specialised competence in genetic and genomic counselling, and is able to apply these as the basis for inde-pendent thinking
• masters the genetic legislation and is able to ap-ply the knowledge in working as an expert in healthcare

• Operational environments of genetic and ge-nomic counselling
• Profession of genetic and genomic counsellor
• Genetic legislation and guidelines
• Multicultural competence

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

The student
- understands the concepts and knowledge of genetic and genomic counselling, but lacks competence to reflect them into independent thinking
- is able to list the genetic legislations but there are deficiencies to apply them to his / her own work as an expert in healthcare.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

The student
- has a clear understanding of the concepts and knowledge of genetic and genomic counselling, and is able to reflect them into the basis for independent thinking
- is able to list the genetic legislations and is able to apply them to his / her own work as an expert in healthcare.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

The student
- has an excellent understanding of the concepts and knowledge of genetic and genomic counselling, and is able to critically reflect them into the basis for independent thinking
- is able to list the genetic legislations, and student has excellent ability to apply them to his / her own work as an expert in healthcare

Location and time

The course will be carried out as classroom teaching at TAMK and online with Zoom video conferencing tool.
