Objectives (course unit)

The students know the significance and possibilities of automation as a part of the industry. They are able to define the automation solutions they wish to implement. The students are also able to design small automation implementations. The students know the controls, practical applications and problems of modern paper machines. The students know the measurements of pulp and paper production. The course improves the students’ professional development.

Content (course unit)

Steering technology, automatic control engineering, measuring technology, automation systems, automation equipment, telecommunications of automation and automation projects.Quality measurements, control variables, the web defect control.

Location and time

Distance teaching classes and laboratory excercises as per the given time schedule.

Exam schedules

The exam is informed in the beginnig of the course. The failed course can be compensated by passing a new exam.

Assessment methods and criteria

Student performance assessment is based on completed laboratory excercises and a passed exam.
