Technical English for Professionals (3 cr)

Objectives (course unit)

Students
- know how to act in working life communication situations (e.g. presentations and meetings)
- know the most important vocabulary of their field of study
- can write job application documents and take part in a job interview

• Job applications
• Terminology of the students’ own field of study
• Meetings and negotiations
• Grammar as required

Prerequisites (course unit)

Working English for Engineers or equivalent skills.

Online starting 4.2.2021

Exam schedules

Will be on the final day of the course.

Evaluation methods and criteria

Evaluation will bebased on 80% of attendance.
Participation in class activities and group assignments.
Returning the assignments on time.
Participating in speaking activities.
Final test.

Teaching methods

Teaching is going to be online due to the pandemic. The letcures and class activities including vocabulary exercises and spoken activities. Group work and group assignments will be part of the teaching methods.

Learning materials

Materials will be provided on the course platform and students will also generate theri learning materials.

The student has completed all the required models and has submitted the required assignmnets.
- pronunciation is clear and natural with different nuances in tone
- written text is readable comprehensible with no visible grammatical errors. Choice of words is accurate.
- Communication is professional, fluent and proficient use of language iin a variety of ways
- communication seems professional, interactive and efficient with very few mistakes made
The student can share the acquired knowledge with fellow and students, and can apply the knowledge to worklife.
